National has always been an innovator of applications for stone-based industrial minerals. For example, the company pioneered the development of the stone products used in glassmaking and today is the largest supplier of glass-batch dolomite in the United States. National was also an early developer of dried stone products used by the steel industry to produce self-fluxing sinter. It was the first to us the high-controllable Calcimatic Flat Bed Rotary Lime Kiln to produce dolomitic lime for other industrial uses.

Innovation continues and the company works with both existing and new customers to pursue new product applications in such areas as fillers for plastics, rubber and paint, neutralization of acid waste products, and for soil stabilization.
